FFPWS. Note that the glycogen appears to be located to the right hand side of each cell: this is as a result of the fixative penetrating from one direcion only thus "pushing" the glycogen ahead of it, until it reaches the cell membrane and can go no further ( called "streaming artefact")
Glycogen is not fixed by Formalin, it is merely enmeshed/immobilised by the proteinacious cytosol thus, it is recommended to use frozen sections
If one wishes to maximise glycogen identification.
